Players will practice:

  • Good improv skills
  • Embracing the quirks of the Micetro format (It’s not fair! Get over it! Have fun!)

WHAT IS MICETRO?

Micetro™ - Created by Keith Johnstone, Micetro is an improv elimination format that includes directors. Up to sixteen improvisers start the evening in numbered jerseys. The directors pull numbers out of a hat to select small groups for each scene. The director sets up the scenario for the scene and may give the performers some side coaching. Players accumulate points after each scene (based on audience applause) and hroughout the show, the individuals with the lowest scores are removed. At the end of the show, there will remain one person standing, the Micetro!

WHY MICETRO?

The reason that Micetro is the first format students perform at BATS is that we believe that a “directed improv” format can help performers (especially newer performers with less stage experience) be bold, take risks, and practice good improv skills on stage.
