WHAT IS THEATRESPORTS?

Theatresports™ - Our signature format. Invented by Keith Johnstone, Theatresports is improvisation played as a sporting event. Two teams of improvisers compete in a series of scenes, games, and challenges vying for points awarded by three Olympic style judges (who score each scene on a scale from one to five.) The audience is involved throughout the show, shouting suggestions and volunteers are usually invited to participate in one of the rounds. At the end of the evening, the team with the most points wins.

BECOMING A SUNDAY PLAYER

After the Sunday performance, the coach and associate dean will confer to determine if an individual student has exhibited the skills necessary to perform improv in front of an audience. While students do not need to be “expert” improvisers at this stage, they need to demonstrate that they are ready to grow and learn from the experience of performing improv in front of an audience on an ongoing basis.

SIX-MONTH INTRODUCTORY PERIOD

Unless the coach and associate dean feel that the student is not ready, those players that complete Performance 2 will be eligible to become an “active” Sunday Player, eligible to play in the Sunday Micetro shows ONLY. There will be a six-month introductory period. At the end of the six months, the student will meet one-on-one with the associate dean to discuss their play. At that time, the associate dean will determine if the student will continue to play with the Sunday Players.
