All shows are completely improvised and you never know what might happen next. Everything you see on stage-the dialogue, movement, music, songs, lighting, and more-are all created right there on the spot.
A night at BATS is different from your average night out at the theater. While most places frown upon audience members shouting out things, we encourage it! Many of the scenes played out on stage are based on audience suggestions.
New in 2008!
Thanks to a generous grant from the Phyllis
G. Wattis Foundation, BATS Improv is launching
a new free program – the Youth Performance Series
– for San Francisco middle schools and high schools (grades
6-12)!
The productions will feature our Main
Stage Company professional actors improvising
stories created from your students’ ideas on the spot. The
performances offer a high-energy, unique experiential introduction
to improvisational theater, one we think worth sharing with
your student body – and tickets are free!
BATS Improv will be producing Youth Performance Series shows
in March and April 2008 (see specific dates below). Performances
will be held at the Bayfront
Theater at Fort Mason Center at 10:00
a.m., and will run approximately 90 minutes. Performances
will also include a facilitated Q&A session with the actors.
SHOW DATES:
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday - March 4, 5, 6
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday - March 11, 12, 13
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday - April 1, 2, 3
